  • It is expected to go on sale to the public in 2022 with a price between $500 and $1,000, while cans will cost between $2.50 and $3

A new company wants people to be able to make ice cream at home — with the same ease as popping a coffee pod into a Keurig machine.

The ColdSnap isn’t expected to be available for purchase until 2022, but when it hits the market, customers will be able to make ice cream, smoothies, and even frozen cocktails at home in under two minutes.

The machine — which is expected to retail for somewhere between $500 and $1,000 — uses special cooling technology to make frozen treats, fast, and gadget fans are already excited about the possibilities.

Impressive! The ColdSnap, which the company Sigma Phase debuted at the CES trade show, uses aluminum cans and can make frozen treats in 60-90 seconds

The ColdSnap, which the company Sigma Phase debuted at the CES trade show on Monday, will make ice cream (including dairy-free options), smoothies, frozen coffees, protein shakes, and frozen cocktails.

Each one is ready to consume in 60 to 90 seconds.

The mixes each come in recyclable aluminum cans, which are shelf-stabilized to sit in pantry for up to a year.

They each have their own QR code on the label that tells the machine what temperature to freeze it to, as well as a mixing mechanism outside to ensure the consistency of the treat is just right.

The only sticking points for some consumers might be the high price tag, and the fact that the entire machine ways 50 pounds.

Sigma Phase President Matt Fonte told CNET that the hefty weight was necessary, though: Had it been lighter, the ice cream would take much longer to make.

Lots to drink! The machine can also make smoothies, frozen coffees, protein shakes, and even frozen cocktails at home in under two minutes

As for the individual cans, the company estimates they will cost $2.50 to $3 each.

The product is really a dream come true for Fonte, who created it after a brainstorming came with his two daughters.

Before bedtime, the girls jot down ideas in their ‘invention journals,’ including concepts for toys, toothbrushes, and even hoola hoops.

‘One day, they asked for an ice cream machine,’ Fonte told CNN Business.

When he told them that ice cream machines do exists, but they usually require a lot of time since users have to freeze a bucket for churning, one of them asked, ‘What about a Keurig machine for ice cream?’

Fonte got to work, and expects to have it in select locations later this year.

‘It’s been really fun with my daughters, who have seen the whole beginning of starting a company, purchasing a 2,500 sq. ft. building, getting patents, and they have shares in the company,’ he said.

‘I’ve been explaining how the investors invest in us and how we can’t let them down.’
