Schalke apologise after Borussia Dortmund wonderkid Youssoufa Moukoko suffers racist abuse from supporters during U19 derby on Sunday

Schalke has apologized for its fans’ racist abuse of Borussia Dortmund youth player Youssoufa Moukoko during a match between the rival clubs’ under-19 sides on Sunday.

Kicker magazine reported that some Schalke fans directed ‘nasty insults’ at Moukoko, who scored a hat trick in the under-19s’ 3-2 Ruhr derby win on Sunday, after he scored his third goal with a long range strike in the 63rd minute. 

The Schalke Twitter account posted on Sunday: ‘We can only apologise for the behaviour of some of our fans towards Youssoufa #Moukoko at today’s U19s match.

Schalke apologised on Sunday following the abuse after striker Moukoko scored a hat-trick

‘Derby emotions aside, we completely condemn and oppose such insults.’

In a tweet with the hashtag ‘NoToRacism,’ the club said its supporter relations department ‘will take the necessary measures.’

Moukoko, 15, is a highly-rated youngster and will be eligible for Dortmund’s senior team when he turns 16 on November 20. 

The treble on Sunday was his third hat trick in three competitive games after a 3-0 cup win against SV Wehen Wiesbaden and 5-0 league win at Preussen Munster.

Moukoko guided his team to a 3-2 win over the weekend and is aiming to play for the first-team

Moukoko was born in Cameroon but has represented Germany’s youth teams and under-16 and under-20 level.

He was in the ranks of fellow German side St Pauli and played for their under-13 team but moved to the Dortmund academy in 2016.
