The first international I’m a Celebrity star is revealed as a Hollywood actress

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! SPOILER: Hollywood actress ‘producers have wanted for years’ is joining the 2021 season (and she’s very familiar to Aussie viewers)

Rumours have been swirling for weeks that an international star will be jetting to Australia for the first locally produced season of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

And now the identity of that Hollywood star has reportedly been leaked.

Actress Lindsay Lohan, who most recently appeared on Aussie TV as a judge on The Masked Singer last year, will join 11 other celebrities in the jungle, reports New Idea.

An insider claimed ‘producers have wanted [Lindsay] on the show for years’.

I’m a Celebrity is being filmed in Dungay, a rural town in north-eastern New South Wales, this year. Previous seasons were filmed in South Africa, but an overseas production wasn’t possible this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

It comes after the Mean Girls star, 34, announced she would be returning as a judge for season three of The Masked Singer in 2021.

She had been unable to join the guessing panel for season two this year because of border closures, and was replaced by Kiwi comedian Urzila Carlson.

Confirmed! It comes after the Mean Girls star, 34, announced she would be returning as a judge for season three of The Masked Singer in 2021

Lindsay had confirmed her return to The Masked Singer on The Ben, Rob & Robbo Show earlier this month.

Lindsay messaged the show’s producer, Abbey Mikkelsen, on Instagram: ‘I will be back in Australia for season three.’

Channel 10 boss Beverly McGarvey had previously stated there was ‘wiggle room’ for Lindsay to come back in some capacity for the 2021 series.

Replacement: She had been unable to join the guessing panel for season two this year due to Covid-19 border closures, and was replaced by Kiwi comedian Urzila Carlson (pictured). It is unclear if Urzila will be leaving the show in 2021 as a result of Lindsay’s return

‘We love all the talent that we had on this year and we love Lindsay,’ the chief content officer and EVP of ViacomCBS Australia told news.com.au.

‘Our feeling at this point is that it feels fairly ambitious to think our borders are going to be open anytime soon.

‘Obviously we would love to have all our internationals back once we can, but I just don’t know when that’s going to be.’

It is unclear if Urzila will be leaving the show as a result of Lindsay’s return, or if the judging panel will increase to five people next year.

Lindsay’s return will be a sweet note for The Masked Singer Australia, which saw a 37 per cent drop in its ratings for season two this year.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Channel 10 and Urzila Carlson for comment.
