Toronto police arrest Hamilton man in Etobicoke carjacking, shooting incident


Toronto police have arrested a man wanted in connection to a carjacking and shooting in Etobicoke in the early hours of Saturday.

Police were called to the area of Kipling Ave. and Bloor Street West at around 2 a.m. with reports of a man stealing a vehicle from a delivery driver.

The man crashed the vehicle into a parked construction vehicle a short distance away, before fleeing on foot and attempting to enter a building located at 5343 Dundas Street West, firing multiple shots into the window.

After a short standoff with police, the man was taken into custody and a semi-automatic pistol was recovered.

Ismail Patel, 22, of Hamilton is facing a number of charges including armed robbery, occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm, dangerous operation, pointing a firearm, and possessing a firearm, while prohibited.
