Toronto police ID city’s first homicide victim of the year


Toronto police have identified the city’s first homicide victim, and released a description of the suspect.

Mohamed Jeylanan, 25, of Minnesota, was stabbed Wednesday at 2495 Eglinton Avenue East, near Midland Avenue, police said.

Police responded to reports of a stabbing just after 5 p.m., and found Jeylanan, who was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The suspect is described as a Black man between 20 to 25 years old, with a thin build, police said Thursday. He was last seen wearing a dark hooded top and light coloured pants.
